What Do We Do?

Flakes and flakes fall onto my eyelashes.

Dampened clothes and sluggish movements.

Who am I to complain about my troubles

As I count my blessings and sheep

While others count their pennies and nickels?

A performer steps on the stage.

“Ladies and gentlemen..”

Some heads turn by choice, others mindlessly continue their day.

As if it were only a ghost shaking a McDonald’s cup on the F train.

Eyes roll, headphone volume up, deep sigh

Or

Look down, reach in your pocket, extend your arm.

But who carries cash on them nowadays?

What do you do about it?

What do I do about it?

What do we do about it?
