A Thank You Note.
To my dear friends,
It's hard for me to fully express every ounce of gratitude I have for each and every one of you. You’ve made me feel loved and less alone in a city that is so big, yet can feel so very lonely. What a blessing it has been to cultivate a friendship with you and grow together. I often wonder if others have friendships like ours. It makes me quite melancholy to think that others don’t experience the sacred treasure of friendship that I share with all of you.
Some of you come from the same place I call home. And how beautiful is it that we ended up molding a friendship here? Some of you have lived in the city your entire life, or come from places like Texas and other foreign lands.
So many little moments of love and care between us.
Gifting each other baked treats, sending lengthy voice messages about our troubles, invitations to dinner parties. Lending books to one another, adding the word “y’all” to my vocabulary, sharing almond milk cappuccinos, Sunday’s on W. 35th St. You always deciding what restaurant to eat at because of my indecisiveness. Little trinkets gifted to me after a trip, song recommendations, ending the night with “Text me when you get home.” Dancing together, crying together, laughing together.
All of these things I cherish so much. Yet, the most favorite gift you have brought to my life is the inspiration to always keep trying. This I am forever grateful for and I hope I bring the same into your life as you do to mine.
Your friend,
Danielle (or Dannie to some.)
“I count myself in nothing else so happy, as in a soul remembering my good friends.”
